چکیده

We give a brief overview on interacting symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases. In particular, we will focus on various cases where the classification of non-interacting fermionic systems breaks down in the presence of interactions. The examples include topological (and trivial) superconductors in one, two and three spatial dimensions, protected by various symmetries such as time-reversal, spin parity, and reflection symmetries. Common to these examples is the ‘collapse’ of the non-interacting classification, where an integer classification (‘’) at non-interacting level reduces to 8 or 16 in the presence of interactions. We make use of these examples to illustrate various approaches to interacting SPT phases.

Symmetry-protected topological orders in interacting bosonic systems.

Symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases are bulk-gapped quantum phases with symmetries, which have gapless or degenerate boundary states as long as the symmetries are not broken. The SPT phases in free fermion systems, such as topological insulators, can be classified; however, it is not known what SPT phases exist in general interacting systems. We present a systematic way to construct SPT...

Classification of Interacting Topological Floquet Phases in One Dimension

Periodic driving of a quantum system can enable new topological phases with no analog in static systems. In this paper, we systematically classify one-dimensional topological and symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases in interacting fermionic and bosonic quantum systems subject to periodic driving, which we dub Floquet SPTs (FSPTs). For physical realizations of interacting FSPTs, many-body...

Topological quantum Lego Imprint of topological degeneracy in quasi-one-dimensional fractional quantum Hall states

Imprint of topological degeneracy in quasi-one-dimensional fractional quantum Hall states Some of the most beautiful discoveries of the last couple of years were made in the field of topological phases of matter. The simpler, non-interacting phases are included in the periodic table of topological insulators, and are distinguished by the appearance of the edge states protected by the bulk gap a...

Integer quantum Hall effect for bosons.

A simple physical realization of an integer quantum Hall state of interacting two dimensional bosons is provided. This is an example of a symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phase which is a generalization of the concept of topological insulators to systems of interacting bosons or fermions. Universal physical properties of the boson integer quantum Hall state are described and shown to corres...

Symmetry Protected Topological phases of Quantum Matter

We describe recent progress in our understanding of the interplay between interactions, symmetry, and topology in states of quantum matter. We focus on a minimal generalization of the celebrated topological band insulators to interacting many particle systems, known as Symmetry Protected Topological (SPT) phases. In common with the topological band insulators these states have a bulk gap and no...
